Unknown Review

I went into this movie thinking that it would be kind of like Taken. You know just a movie that shows Liam Neeson kicking some ass, but instead I got a boring, non emotional thriller that I just wished was over. The story goes that Dr. Martin Harris has come to Berlin with his wife for a summit meeting. He forgets his suitcase at the airport and gets into a car accident on the way back. He bumps his head and loses his short-term memory. He reunites with his wife only to find that she claims not to know him and he has been replaced by another man claiming to be him. Now this is where the movie really gets ruined for me. The acting in the scene where he confronts his wife is terrible and unbelievable. January Jones is hands down the worst actor/actress in this movie. Her line delivery is so wooden and dull that she ruined the movie for me. It would make sense if she was supposed to act this way, but nope this is just the way she acts the entire movie no matter what emotion the scene is trying to convey. The only actors that seemed to be trying were Liam Neeson and Bruno Ganz. The story seems like it could be good, but doesn't let the viewer becomes emotionally attached to Dr. Harris so we end up not caring about him the whole movie. The action scenes are dull, extremely implausible, and too far in between. The movie can be described as 20 minutes of dialogue, 2 minutes of action, then 20 more minutes of dialogue. I mind movies with a lot of dialogue, but it was really uninteresting. What was supposed to be a serious movie came off as goofy, especially what happens to "Elizabeth Harris" at the end (which was pretty funny). Another problem I had was the fact that Liam Neeson's character gets beat up the entire movie, at one time even needing Gina to save him. Even when he is "supposed" to be a good fighter he still gets beat up and barely wins. I wanted to love this movie, but plot holes, bad acting (especially January Jones), ludicrous action scenes, and all-around implausibility ruined it for me.
